Leaked invoices that purportedly show payments between prominent DJs and publication DJ Mag bring to question the ethics and morals behind the running of the worlds most popular EDM publication, as well as the DJs involved.

Here at Maxumi to be honest we’re not surprised to hear about this and suspect it’s an industry wide practise that also involves Mixmag. However, DJ Mag argue that the payments received are for legitimate advertising. It seems strangely coincidental however that the payments match very neatly up in timing to reviews and features concerning the DJs.

It certainly brings about the question, how much would it take to persuade DJ Mag to feature an artist or DJ in a favourable light? Can they be bribed? And what of the Top 100 DJs poll, which after David Guetta’s win has become something of a laughing stock among the EDM community?

Kirsty – Hands High (Afrojack Radio Edit)

February 23, 2013

Who is Kirsty? We don’t know either, but this looks like her attempt to crack the commercial dance scene and she’s enlisted the help of Afrojack who provides remix duties. Apparently Sander Van Doorn said “supporting!” and David Guetta said “huge!” Although we’d question how much thought they gave to their answers when questioned. The… View Article
