Jonas Kopp- Anklad

Fresh out of Argentina, comes fresh tech house to our ears. If you have been overloaded with sugary chart-friendly house, simply starved of the dark side, or forever addicted to dance music, fear no more. Jonas Kopp’s minimalistic approach shows off the mix of all instruments in the song.

The wide spacing and amount of emphasis of low equalising on the kick drum, creates depth, whilst the hi-hat layers over like a thin sheet of ice on a frozen lake. Complimenting both parts are distorted strings that phase in and out and synthetic effects that echo.

Anklad demonstrates that Jonas has a flare for filling as much space of a rave with hypnotic grooves. It’s as though he has focused on sound engineering and acoustics aspects, in order to capture peoples minds. Maxumi was fascinated to learn that Jonas uses the same approach in live shows. For Jonas 2012 has kicked off ¬†with remixes. In May, he will be touring Europe. It is predicted that 2012 is his year.

But this track is much slower than anything Planet Perfecto ever put out, and as a result it’s not… View Article

Arty, Nadia Ali & BT – Must Be The Love (Official Music Video)

February 24, 2013

BT is a legend of Trance production, Nadia Ali is a legend of Trance vocals. Any team up between these two is bound to be good, but when you throw in relative newcomer but excellent producer Arty into the mix as well, are we witnessing collaborative genius or are too many cooks spoiling the broth?… View Article

Kirsty – Hands High (Afrojack Radio Edit)

February 23, 2013

Who is Kirsty? We don’t know either, but this looks like her attempt to crack the commercial dance scene and she’s enlisted the help of Afrojack who provides remix duties. Apparently Sander Van Doorn said “supporting!” and David Guetta said “huge!” Although we’d question how much thought they gave to their answers when questioned. The… View Article
