With dance music enjoying its greatest ever international boom, the early signs are that 2011 is set to be the biggest year yet for the Top 100 DJs Poll powered by TID Pro. In the first week of voting over 130,000 votes were cast – breaking the previous year’s record by over 30,000 votes. Record numbers have also been signing up to Trackitdown’s TID Pro service (full details below).
With just under half a million votes cast in 2010 from across 167+ countries, the Top 100 DJs Poll is the planet’s largest music poll and reinforces dance music’s position as a truly global culture, populated by a new breed of electronic music star.
Voting for this year’s Poll opened on Wednesday 27th July and runs until 23rd September. This means weeks of frenzied debate as clubbers and dance music fans alike make their call on the DJs who’ve rocked their world over the past year.
Since the Poll went digital back in the 1990s its evolution has been a force to be reckoned with. This year, voting is taking place via a brand new app on the Facebook platform. Twitter users can join the debate using the #Top100DJs hashtag.
The Top 100 DJs Poll powered by TID Pro is a public vote where voters are given the chance to name their Top 5 favourite DJs in order of preference. The debate rarely leaves the dance world all year, but during the next few months the speculation on the world’s top spinner, new entries, and biggest climbers, will reach fever pitch.
Can Armin van Buuren top his record breaking four years at the top with an unprecedented 5th win? Will David Guetta translate his all-conquering pop success into a deluge of votes for his DJ performances? Can social media addict Deadmau5 rally his formidable online fan base to propel him to the top of the list? Will Tiësto return to take the crown he really made his own after a huge year of stadium touring and chart success? Will the UK’s leading DJs, Above & Beyond, edge closer to the top spot? Will Sander Van Doorn break into the top 10? And where will genres like dubstep and drum & bass feature in 2011?
The Top 100 DJs Poll is sponsored by TID Pro, the groundbreaking new service for DJs and dance music fans from leading download store Trackitdown.net. A hybrid of subscription and club membership, TID Pro gives DJs substantial savings on their music buying, but crucially without the artist or labels losing out. All voters in the Top 100 DJs Poll powered by TID Pro qualify for a month of TID Pro access (worth £10) with no rolling contract and access to over 10,000 new tracks every week with guaranteed savings.
