Riva, your Snatch! label is one year old. How does it feel to be at this point? How significant is it to be at this stage?

It’s wicked…Time flies! It has been a hard year but its given me a lot of satisfaction as well. I have had the pleasure to work with some exciting new talents and well established producers, and peoples reactions have been amazingly warm so far… So I’m well happy!

You have a collaboration coming up with Major Lazer, can you tell us a little more about this?

I’ve been in touch with Diplo and Switch for a while now so I asked them to make this collaboration and they were up for it. It’s a track called ‘JUMP’ and its very hip hop influenced. Its simple and made for the dancefloor. We’ve also got a Martin Brothers remix on the flip for the bass heads… It should be release by the end of April.

Out of all the artists on Snatch! who are you most excited about for 2011 and why?

There’s plenty, Pirupa, Jet Project, John Made, Pablo Rez are among my favourites.. They are producing some amazing tunes.

What is the ethos of Snatch!?

Just keep the funk! It’s a dancefloor based label so our aim is to rock the dancefloor :)

Many labels are looking at ways of diversifying to attract greater interest, for example Toolroom have collaborated with fashion label Gio-Goi. Do you have any exciting ideas to turn Snatch! into an even more popular and productive label?

Yes I would like to collaborate with a famous porn production agency in order to make hardcore porn videos for the label. Joke. Maybe not a joke. Yo :)

How do you feel about internet piracy, and as the owner of a record label, what do you think the music industry needs to be doing to combat it?

Well, you can’t really beat it… I still believe that it’s useful anyway in order to spread your name more and more. There’s still a solid bunch of people buying tunes anyway so that’s cool for me

Lastly to wrap up, when Snatch! hits two, what do you hope you will have achieved?

HIIO Feat. Terri B! – Something About You

February 28, 2013

South American duo HIIO (pronounced H2O) have arrived in 2013 with their attempt at creating a classic house tune. There’s definitely some classic house vibes here in the synths, the Planet Perfecto influence is pretty obvious. But this track is much slower than anything Planet Perfecto ever put out, and as a result it’s not… View Article

Arty, Nadia Ali & BT – Must Be The Love (Official Music Video)

February 24, 2013

BT is a legend of Trance production, Nadia Ali is a legend of Trance vocals. Any team up between these two is bound to be good, but when you throw in relative newcomer but excellent producer Arty into the mix as well, are we witnessing collaborative genius or are too many cooks spoiling the broth?… View Article

Kirsty – Hands High (Afrojack Radio Edit)

February 23, 2013

Who is Kirsty? We don’t know either, but this looks like her attempt to crack the commercial dance scene and she’s enlisted the help of Afrojack who provides remix duties. Apparently Sander Van Doorn said “supporting!” and David Guetta said “huge!” Although we’d question how much thought they gave to their answers when questioned. The… View Article
