Sun & Moon‘Sun & Moon’ is the first single to be taken from Above & Beyond’s eagerly awaited second artist album ‘Group Therapy’. The song features the distinctive vocals of Richard Bedford, revered for his contributions tothe band’s acclaimed debut album ‘Tri State’, now widely recognised as one of the landmark electronic albums of the last decade.

Above & Beyond’s stock has risen considerably in the past 12 months; in October they sold out Brixton Academy and were confirmed as the UK’s biggest and most popular DJ outfit when they were voted #5 in DJmag’s Top 100 DJs poll. Key 2010 gigs included closing the Dance Village at the 40th anniversary of Glastonbury and playing to 60,000 people at LA’s Electric Daisy Carnival. The trio also headlined theCream & Radio 1 Ibiza event at Privilege with Underworld for BBC Radio 1’s annual Ibiza Weekend.

Previously labelled as “The UK’s new dance superstars” by Radio 1’s Pete Tong, they have played to 1 million people on Barra Beach in Rio and also soundtracked the launch of Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo. A firm fans’ favourite from the trio’s recent sell-out gigs at Brixton Academy and the Hollywood Palladium, ‘Sun & Moon’ is a track that’s made for festival stages and big room arenas. The sound of Above & Beyond at their grandest the song stands tall among their classics ‘Alone Tonight’, ‘Can’t Sleep’ and ‘Home’. Remixes come from Kim Fai, Distance and 7 Skies.

“Sun & Moon is really ‘Alone Tonight’ part 2. It’s a break-up song, but with a twist, namely the idea that even though relationships end in the physical world they live on in your memory forever. The original piece of music it was written over is a gorgeous naked arpeggio piece called ‘Mist’ that Jono and Paavo cooked up years ago and thinking about it now ‘Sun & Moon’has had possibly the longest gestation of any of our songs: it exists in so many versions, many of which we hope to finish off. We played another mix of it in our live show in Beirut two years ago, but the current mix, with the massive riff, is very much a product of our recent ‘Group Therapy’ sessions. We love it!” Above & Beyond’s Tony McGuinness.

HIIO Feat. Terri B! – Something About You

February 28, 2013

South American duo HIIO (pronounced H2O) have arrived in 2013 with their attempt at creating a classic house tune. There’s definitely some classic house vibes here in the synths, the Planet Perfecto influence is pretty obvious. But this track is much slower than anything Planet Perfecto ever put out, and as a result it’s not… View Article

Arty, Nadia Ali & BT – Must Be The Love (Official Music Video)

February 24, 2013

BT is a legend of Trance production, Nadia Ali is a legend of Trance vocals. Any team up between these two is bound to be good, but when you throw in relative newcomer but excellent producer Arty into the mix as well, are we witnessing collaborative genius or are too many cooks spoiling the broth?… View Article

Kirsty – Hands High (Afrojack Radio Edit)

February 23, 2013

Who is Kirsty? We don’t know either, but this looks like her attempt to crack the commercial dance scene and she’s enlisted the help of Afrojack who provides remix duties. Apparently Sander Van Doorn said “supporting!” and David Guetta said “huge!” Although we’d question how much thought they gave to their answers when questioned. The… View Article
