Barely months after Daft Punk stowed away their mixing desks having lent their neon-tinged beats to Disney’s tepid tech sequel TRON: Legacy, it has surfaced that the kings of London house Basement Jaxx are scoring forthcoming home-grown sci-fi feature Attack the Block.

Although nothing’s yet been confirmed by the guys themselves, Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright pretty much let it slip when he tweeted: “Heard some of Basement Jaxx’s score for Joe Cornish’s Attack the Block yesterday. Still humming it today”.

With the movie tagged “Inner City vs. Outer Space”, the urban music tourists Basement Jaxx should prove a perfect match for Attack the Block. Written by one half of late-night Channel 4 soft toy molesters Adam and Joe, it’s a British action comedy that sees a gang of South London hoodies trying to defend their estate from an alien invasion.

The film’s due out in April, with no word as to when the soundtrack will drop.

There’s definitely some classic house vibes here in the synths, the Planet Perfecto influence is pretty obvious. But this track is much slower than anything Planet Perfecto ever put out, and as a result it’s not… View Article

February 24, 2013

BT is a legend of Trance production, Nadia Ali is a legend of Trance vocals. Any team up between these two is bound to be good, but when you throw in relative newcomer but excellent producer Arty into the mix as well, are we witnessing collaborative genius or are too many cooks spoiling the broth?… View Article

Kirsty – Hands High (Afrojack Radio Edit)

February 23, 2013

Who is Kirsty? We don’t know either, but this looks like her attempt to crack the commercial dance scene and she’s enlisted the help of Afrojack who provides remix duties. Apparently Sander Van Doorn said “supporting!” and David Guetta said “huge!” Although we’d question how much thought they gave to their answers when questioned. The… View Article
