2020Soundsystem are back in the UK this November with a series of dates supporting Booka Shade as well as headline shows. They also announce the release of ‘Live at Village Underground’ on CD format only that will be available exclusively at the forthcoming live shows and direct from 2020recordings.com.

The Village Underground show was one of many summer highlights this year for the band, which also included destroying the Paradiso tent at The Big Chill (featured as a festival highlight by Clash Magazine). The live electronic funk experience that is the 2020Soundsystem also headlined the main stage at Croatia’s Garden Festival as well as performing at Sonar by night. 2020Soundsystem have now become one of only a handful of live bands ever to play at We Love Space Ibiza and the legendary Ministry of Sound, both times smashing the place to pieces.

The Village Underground appearance in London was recorded for film and audio; both of which will be released to co-inside with the tour dates.

2020Soundsystem November Tour Dates:

  • Nov 11th: Leeds O2 Academy with Booka Shade
  • Nov 13th: Birmingham – Hare & Hounds
  • Nov 19th: Bristol Motion with Booka Shade
  • Nov20th: London – Fabric

‘Live at Village Underground’ showcases everything that the 2020Soundsystem do best – play live. After the critical success of their last studio album ‘Falling’ in 2009 the group felt it was important to record and preserve a snapshot of their summer tour dates. As every set is different and constantly changing ‘Live at Village Underground’ captures the unique way the four interact on stage.

Ralph Lawson is behind the decks throwing in beats, which are tightly complimented by Danny Ward’s drums. Simon Richmond (from The Bays) layers synths and keys into the mix while Fernando Pulichino holds it together on the bottom end with his distinctive bass sound. Finally Fernando adds vocals on ‘Sliding Away’ and ‘Ocean’ ; the latter which has become their summer anthem and closing song.

The main thing you notice with the Soundsystem and what has always been their trademark since their inception on 2003 is that there is never a break in the music, it is always mixed into a continual flow. 2020Soundsystem are primarily a dance band and to keep people dancing you don’t stop. It is a DJ creating live music on the spot with musicians. This may be something that seems so simple but a method that has been pioneered by the Soundsystem and only taken on by a handful of bands. This November the guys justly deserve their place on the big stage and supporting Booka Shade is indeed a massive honor. The ‘Live at Village Underground’ CD features five previously unreleased tracks and new live versions of their best known work including ‘Sliding Away’, ‘Ocean’, ‘Psycho’ and ‘Bisco’.

HIIO Feat. Terri B! – Something About You

February 28, 2013

South American duo HIIO (pronounced H2O) have arrived in 2013 with their attempt at creating a classic house tune. There’s definitely some classic house vibes here in the synths, the Planet Perfecto influence is pretty obvious. But this track is much slower than anything Planet Perfecto ever put out, and as a result it’s not… View Article

Arty, Nadia Ali & BT – Must Be The Love (Official Music Video)

February 24, 2013

BT is a legend of Trance production, Nadia Ali is a legend of Trance vocals. Any team up between these two is bound to be good, but when you throw in relative newcomer but excellent producer Arty into the mix as well, are we witnessing collaborative genius or are too many cooks spoiling the broth?… View Article

Kirsty – Hands High (Afrojack Radio Edit)

February 23, 2013

Who is Kirsty? We don’t know either, but this looks like her attempt to crack the commercial dance scene and she’s enlisted the help of Afrojack who provides remix duties. Apparently Sander Van Doorn said “supporting!” and David Guetta said “huge!” Although we’d question how much thought they gave to their answers when questioned. The… View Article
