Polymorphic – Apocalypse (Noise Invaders remix) (Coco Machete)

Another beast of a release from the Coco Machete imprint

Alert the wardens. The animals are trying to escape from the electro zoo.

Coco Machete have outdone themselves again, bringing us Moscow-based Polymorphic’s Apocalypse EP, which with its quirky stylings and hectic pace wouldn’t be out of place in the record bags of Crookers or Erol Alkan.

The highlight is the Noise Invaders remix, a menagerie of synthesised shrieks, purrs and what could be the trumpeting of frenzied elephants joining forces in a solid tune that chugs along like a tractor.

Session remixers Noise Invaders (most recently turning their hands on Chromeo’s ‘Don’t Turn The Lights On’) have stayed true to the original, only given it spikes and claws to walk around on. The breakdown takes us back to early-90s rave country, while crunchy percussion keeps things tight as a cat’s… well, you know. In a sandstorm.

If this is the apocalypse, let’s just lie back and enjoy it.

The Apocalypse EP features the original mix as well as remixes by Marseille and Noise Invaders. It’s available now on Beatport.
