Mercury prize winner Die is one of DNBs shining stars with countless classics spanning two decades. Alongside rising star Interface and vocalist William Cartwright comes Bright Lights, a genre-defying track which brings together many very different elements in a surprisingly cohesive package. Toolroom’s 200th release is a track which not only celebrates this landmark but also demonstrates the ability of the label to adapt and encapsulates the ethos of a forward thinking label at the forefront of electronic music.
The track starts off as a warm, Urban / RNB feel track, not too dissimilar in sound to Donell Jones. But it’s not long before the track flips and the savage bass is in control. Netsky stamps his distinctive sound on ‘Bright Lights’ for this remix which is exclusive to iTunes only. For those more partial to their four to the floor beats, label boss Mark Knight turns in a superb jackin house remix whilst Sidney Samson provides his trademark sound on a package that suits every taste. For DJ’s after a crowd-mobilising weapon of mass destruction, look no further than the Rockers Mix.
