Zagar – Wings of Love (feat. The Underground Divas)

Currently smashing it up in home Country Hungary, Wings of Love is the collaboration between Zagar, an electronica band, and six female vocalists known as The Underground Divas. The catchy, elevating chorus in so many ways could easily have been cheesy, yet, partly in thanks to the awesome production skills of Zagar, and their wonderful playing, it manages to capture a sense of elegance and sophistication.

Whilst the track is ever so slightly repetitive, it’s good repetition, and the track as a whole deserves much greater recognition outside of Hungary. Check it out below.

“Wings of Love” is out now.

Above & Beyond & Gareth Emery pres. OceanLab ‘On A Good Day (Metropolis)’ – Making of the Music Video

“We all read about the Detroit Urban Farms project and saw the documentaries about it and it really moved us all. To see a community reclaiming the crumbling city blocks to grow the food they need is an incredible story in so many ways. It was moving, topical and also a beautiful and apt illustration of what the song is actually about – triumph over adversity. As a video concept, it was perfect from all angles.” Above & Beyond’s Tony … Continue reading

Popular Dubstep- Millions Like Us Popular Dubstep- Millions Like Us

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Dubstep has become a movement of global significance over the past decade. So rapid has it’s rise been that it has started to make pop look like an underground project forged in Croydon at the turn of the millennium. Dubstep’s upward trajectory has been sharp since it’s humble beginnings at Big Apple records up to Skream’s recent award winning remix with La Roux’s “In For the Kill”. Early proponents of the sound … Continue reading

Polymorphic – Apocalypse (Noise Invaders remix) (Coco Machete) Polymorphic – Apocalypse (Noise Invaders remix) (Coco Machete)

Another beast of a release from the Coco Machete imprint

Alert the wardens. The animals are trying to escape from the electro zoo.

Coco Machete have outdone themselves again, bringing us Moscow-based Polymorphic’s Apocalypse EP, which with its quirky stylings and hectic pace wouldn’t be out of place in the record bags of Crookers or Erol Alkan.

The highlight is the Noise Invaders remix, a menagerie of synthesised shrieks, purrs and what could be the trumpeting of frenzied elephants joining forces in a solid tune that chugs along like a tractor.

Session remixers Noise Invaders (most recently turning their hands on Chromeo’s ‘Don’t Turn The Lights On’) have stayed true to the original, only given it spikes and claws to walk around on. The breakdown takes us back to early-90s rave country, while crunchy percussion keeps things tight as a cat’s… well, you know. In a sandstorm.

If this is the apocalypse, let’s just lie back and enjoy it.

The Apocalypse EP features the original mix as well as remixes by Marseille and Noise Invaders. It’s available now on Beatport.

Where You Are - Junior Sanchez, Harry Romero & Alexander Technique ft. Shawnee Taylor Where You Are – Junior Sanchez, Harry Romero & Alexander Technique ft. Shawnee Taylor

junior sanchezThis would go down well in a night club, festival or rave because it builds anticipation right from the beginning. Well established names in the dance music biz prop up this tune. Junior Sanchez and pals use the fantastic vocals of Shawnee Taylor, who has worked with names such as Todd Terry and Erick Morillo to name a few. The effects are good though I think they are slightly unnecessary on Shawnee Taylors voice since her vocals are amazing but it doesn’t ruin the track by any means. It’s really easy to listen to and makes me want to carry on listening. It’s not well known with the mainstream kind of c lubbers butcould very easily build momentum and gain plenty of interest amongst regular c lubbers and DJ’s, and it’s a tune I would dance to in a club and probably get caught up in the frenzy of c lubbers also loving it and going wild to it. There is plenty of different levels and variation to keep you interested.I love the climax’s and lows, it reminds me of nights out where all I’ve done is dance to great tunes.
I can definitely see this one on Ministry of sound or C lubbers guide in ten years as one of thedecades best anthems. It is going to be a huge club hit, maybe not in the charts but huge in all theright places and with all the right people. I’ll be downloading this one!
