Beckwith is a rising star in the EDM scene. Having mastered his technique at the world famous Berkelee School of Music, mentored by Grammy award winner Prince Charles Alexander (Mary J Blige, Puff Daddy, Usher, Sting) Beckwith has gone on to producing serious music with the aim of making an impact in the dance world. The likes of Crookers, Kele, Nervo and even Justin Timberlake are now calling upon Beckwith for his mixing skills.
With vocals provided by the salacious Ineabell, No Time to Waste definitely seeps with high quality production. It’s clear that Beckwith has been learning from the best. The utilization of the vocals is spot on and Ineabells voice is well suited to the funky house beat. It is not the most original sound in the world, and Beckwith demonstrates clear influence from house greats such as Armand Van Helden, Larry Heard and Steve Hurley. There is however great creativity going on here, and Beckwith demonstrates skills that can’t be taught with the build up and the perfectly balanced drop, the choppy synths bringing the crescendo along with the vocals.
No Time to Waste is not perfect, and it is definitely not quite up there with productions we’re used to hearing from the usual likes of Swedish House Mafia and Van Helden. But for a relative newbie to the scene, this is a remarkably accomplished production that shows clear intention and ability.
The single is released on DJs Are Not Rockstars on the 27th of September.
