Uh-oh, poor Mau5.

Controversial but ultimately brilliant Deadmau5 recently collapsed at a show suffering from vomiting and exhaustion. Deadmau5 is currently on tour but the next 9 dates have been cancelled on doctors orders. We recently speculated that Mighty Mau5 has been suffering from a lack of creativity in 2010 with only 2 releases under his belt, compared to the dozens of 07, 08 and 09. But it seems clear that more than anything time is catching up with him after too much touring.

What this does seem to highlight is that there is a huge strain on the modern DJ and producer. Once you do hit the top, you are expected to perform on an almost daily basis. It’s not really viable for DJs to be performing night after night, especially with long journeys between gigs. We have to wonder whether Deadmau5 is an exception, and has just worked too hard, or if it’s a sign of things to come and that he will be the first but not the last DJ to suffer from too much.

Mau5, go on holiday, and have a speedy recovery.

But this track is much slower than anything Planet Perfecto ever put out, and as a result it’s not… View Article

Arty, Nadia Ali & BT – Must Be The Love (Official Music Video)

February 24, 2013

BT is a legend of Trance production, Nadia Ali is a legend of Trance vocals. Any team up between these two is bound to be good, but when you throw in relative newcomer but excellent producer Arty into the mix as well, are we witnessing collaborative genius or are too many cooks spoiling the broth?… View Article

Kirsty – Hands High (Afrojack Radio Edit)

February 23, 2013

Who is Kirsty? We don’t know either, but this looks like her attempt to crack the commercial dance scene and she’s enlisted the help of Afrojack who provides remix duties. Apparently Sander Van Doorn said “supporting!” and David Guetta said “huge!” Although we’d question how much thought they gave to their answers when questioned. The… View Article
