Deadmau5 & Chris Lake – I Said (Michael Woods Remix)

Chris Lake & Deadmau5Chris Lake is one of our favourite producers. Though, since the Markus Schossow incident we lost a huge amount of respect for Deadmau5, who would have done well to have simply kept quiet about the whole business, instead of managing single handedly to offend almost every DJ & Producer on the planet.Needless to say, much like we hate other successes who air a certain arrogance (think Chelsea FC, Didier Drogba, Apple Inc et al) you can’t really deny obvious talent and we do appreciate The Mau5. This is his second collaboration with Chris Lake, and is a more minimal, techy affair. It’s a good groove but not enough of a departure from previous tracks to really make us excited. If you look for the Michael Woods remix however, things get a bit more interesting, and the pops and squeaks actually lead to a decent drop into a more spine tingling groove. Good stuff…but not quite revolutionary. “i said” is out now on Mau5 Trap records.

There’s definitely some classic house vibes here in the synths, the Planet Perfecto influence is pretty obvious. But this track is much slower than anything Planet Perfecto ever put out, and as a result it’s not… View Article

February 24, 2013

BT is a legend of Trance production, Nadia Ali is a legend of Trance vocals. Any team up between these two is bound to be good, but when you throw in relative newcomer but excellent producer Arty into the mix as well, are we witnessing collaborative genius or are too many cooks spoiling the broth?… View Article

Kirsty – Hands High (Afrojack Radio Edit)

February 23, 2013

Who is Kirsty? We don’t know either, but this looks like her attempt to crack the commercial dance scene and she’s enlisted the help of Afrojack who provides remix duties. Apparently Sander Van Doorn said “supporting!” and David Guetta said “huge!” Although we’d question how much thought they gave to their answers when questioned. The… View Article
